Our guides on fragrances

How can I fragrance my homemade creations?

Depending on the type of creation you wish to make, you can use several types of products.

  • All our "candle fragrances" are used for creating your candles, melts, solid soaps, reed diffusers, and cosmetics.
  • "Car diffuser fragrances" spread their notes in car diffusers.
  • "Liquid soap fragrances" will accompany your scented liquid soaps, detergents, and they can also be used in your laundry.
  • "Mist fragrances" spread their essences for your textile mists and detergents.
  • "Laundry fragrances" guarantee an exceptional result during your machine washes.

Characteristics of fragrances for your scented creations

Fragrances present specific olfactory notes organized into 3 categories: top notes, heart notes, and base notes.

Unlike a traditional perfume, which gradually unfolds on your skin, revealing a sequential dance of notes, a scented candle invites you to a different symphony.

From the moment you light its wick, it generously delivers the full richness of its aromatic palette. Top, heart, and base notes join in a harmonious dance, blending and diffusing simultaneously.

Some scents may contain CMRs, ethyl phthalate, or vanillin to enhance the olfactory performance. Without these, certain fragrances simply wouldn't exist. You may find all three, some, or none of these components in a fragrance. To learn more, check out our FAQ on fragrances.

Important
Each fragrance complies with European IFRA / CLP CE No. 1907/2006 regulations and the European cosmetic regulation 1223/2009/EEC.

We strongly recommend all our customers, especially pregnant women or individuals with pre-existing medical conditions, to adopt appropriate personal protective measures, such as gloves, safety goggles, and lab coats, when handling our products.

How should I store my candle fragrance?

It is recommended to store a fragrance in a cool place, away from light, at room temperature (20°C) to extend its shelf life for up to a maximum of 24 months. If the fragrance crystallizes, simply heat it to a temperature not exceeding 30°C.

Which fragrance should I choose?

On Terre de Bougies, we offer 17 different fragrance families, each with its own identity. Depending on the season, desired effects, or specific notes, you can choose a fragrance with different characteristics.

Choosing a fragrance based on seasonality

As summer arrives, our summer fragrances will further brighten your hot days. But, you might be looking for a bit of freshness. For that, our beverage-type scents will refresh your olfactory senses. Fragrances like Mojito or Piña Colada are available.

In autumn, nature prepares for the coming winter. Trees shed their leaves, the sun becomes more discreet, and the high temperatures disappear. In this case, woody and fresh scents perfectly capture this warm autumn ambiance. Scents like Forest Walk or Orange Sandalwood can evoke this cozy autumnal atmosphere.

During winter, we tend to be more homebound as nature becomes more hostile. It’s the season for hot chocolate and cozy nights under a blanket. What could be better than cocooning fragrances to enhance the warm, dimmed atmosphere of your space? Fragrances like Fireside or Orange Cinnamon will strengthen the winter ambiance. Of course, all Christmas fragrances will elevate your year-end celebrations with unique scents.

When spring arrives, the flora and fauna emerge from their winter slumber, reviving your senses in the heart of nature. Thus, floral or nature-inspired scents will capture the renewal of Mother Nature. You will again experience the essence of your surroundings with scents like Spring Breeze or Sakura Flower.
