Take your candle creations to the next level with our Olive Wax for Molded Candles and Melts , a blend specifically developed for the production of molded pillar candles.
This is a 100% vegetable wax , mainly based on olive wax, mixed with natural additives to improve combustion and fragrance diffusion. This wax is completely free of animal products, paraffin or palm and has not been tested on animals. It is biodegradable and suitable for vegans.
EcoOlive PillarBlend offers excellent fragrance throw, both hot and cold, and a smooth surface finish with a subtle sheen. It requires only one pour and is easily removed from the molds. This wax can accommodate a fragrance load of up to 12% with fragrance oils designed for use with natural waxes.
For best results, we recommend melting this wax at approximately 75 degrees Celsius and pouring at 65 degrees . A cure time of 48 hours is recommended . As with all candle making, we encourage you to do thorough testing with all combinations of wax, fragrance oil, and wick.
We recommend our various guides for making your scented wax melts .
Your molds should be clean and free of contaminants. They should be at least room temperature, although preheating to around 45 - 50°C can be beneficial.
If using powdered dyes, heat the wax to about 75°C , add the dye and stir until dissolved. Powdered dyes can also be dissolved in the fragrance before adding to the melted wax.
This olive wax for molded candles and melts has been designed to be used with fragrances at levels between 5 - 12%. The use of fragrances specifically developed for natural waxes is highly recommended.
Natural waxes tend to require larger wicks than traditional paraffin waxes. The scent, dye, and configuration of the candle have a big impact on choosing the best wick.
Temporarily high temperatures (up to 90°C) have no negative effect as long as the wax is cooled quickly. Let the wax cool to the desired filling temperature, add the fragrance and mix well.
Depending on the type and size of the mold, the fragrance, the dye used, and the effect you want to achieve, filling temperatures can vary. For best release, it is recommended to pour at a temperature of around 65°C, although this will depend on the size and shape of the candle being produced. Add and mix the fragrance just before filling, if possible. If you are having difficulty with the filling temperature, try increasing or decreasing the temperature in 5-10°C increments . Consider using preheated molds to improve release.
EcoOlive Olive Wax for Molded Candles is designed to require a single pour. However, for some larger candles, additional filling may be necessary to achieve a perfect candle surface. A small amount of wax at a slightly higher temperature than the initial filling may be used to top off the candle before it has completely cooled.
Allow the candles to cool slowly to room temperature (around 25°C) . The candles should be left undisturbed for 48 hours before testing.
It is important to check the wick. Test the candle for burn pool diameter and "mushroom" formation after it has cooled for 48 hours. Try different wicks until you get the desired burn pool diameter and a nice clean flame.
Each combination of size, wax, dye, fragrance and wick must be tested to achieve the optimal candle.
